Engineering Career Center

Services for Students and Industry

Mission Statement

The Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering Career Center assists engineering students with full-time job placements, internships and career development. The Center also serves as an Engineering contact for companies seeking to meet their engineering employment and internship needs. The Center complements and expands upon career and internship programs in the Engineering academic departments and functions as a school-wide portal for contact by business and industry.

Center Services

The following services are some ways in which the Center can assist students, alumni and companies.

Career Advising and Job Preparation

The Center provides both scheduled and drop-in advising for engineering students and alumni on career issues, including career choices, preparation of resumes and application letters, job search techniques, interview skills, professional dress, and business communication.  These career topics and others are also presented in workshops offered in cooperation with ASU Career Services.  Career Center staff can make presentations at the Engineering Student Center, in Engineering classes, and in Engineering student organizations meetings.

Resume Postings and Job/Internship Searches

The Center provides students and alumni access to a web-based system for posting resumes and searching for jobs and internships, both locally and nationally.  Students are assisted in maximizing the effectiveness of the system to connect with engineering-specific openings.  Students can register for career and internship fairs; employer information sessions; and for on-campus interview sessions with prospective employers.

Job/Internship Postings and Placements

The Center provides companies access to a web-based system for job and internship postings.  It permits companies to reach students and alumni across all four of the ASU campuses.  A company representative can search resumes and contact students directly.  Companies can sign up for career fairs, schedule an information session, and arrange on-campus interviews.  Students can see the job and internship postings and apply directly to the company.  The Center also publicizes Engineering postings through targeted email announcements to appropriate students and departments.

Engineering Internship Program (EIP)

The EIP is a special sponsored internship program that permits highly qualified master’s and PhD level students to work with leading edge companies.  In some cases, junior and senior level students may participate in EIP.  Through sponsorship agreements between the Center and companies, Engineering students are hired as ASU student employees and placed for internships and research work with the companies.  Sponsorship fees include a salary for the intern, administrative fees, and a contribution to various scholarship funds within the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering.

Affiliate - Engineering Internship Program (A-EIP)

A-EIP permits students from other ASU colleges and schools to participate in technologyand business related internships through EIP-type sponsorship agreements with companies.
