Research Interests

The Adood Ranch Project

The goal of our research is to come up with an architecture for active and object-oriented systems that provide debugging capabilities. The research will define the different components of such system, identify the responsabilities of each component and set up the interfaces among the different components. The research will focus on the debugging component and investigate ways for its design and implementation. Our intention is to use active concepts to build the debugger itself. The issues related to solve this problem are 1) termination analysis at run time, 2) the type of run time support that the debugger can provide to check the confluence of active rules, 3) type of capabilities that need to be acquired to support the system, 4) Effecient ways to deal with database states, and 5) How can the debugger use the information from the static rule analysis. Related to the debugging component there is a testing component to test for the correctness of the active rules, the debugger should provide the tools for the testing process to carry out its task.

Thesis Staff

A Query Transformation Subsystem To Resolve Semantic Heterogeneity:
In a multi-database environment, design and implement a semantic framework to map queries applied on a conceptual object-oriented data model to queries on different types of models. The implementation is carried out in C and C++.
