Homework # 3

Due: Monday, 23 February, 2009

Problem statement: Create and publish a personal site on the ASU public WWW server.

The site should contain at least two pages: a welcome page and your resume.
Both pages should have defined background image.
The welcome page should contain:

  1. initial information about yourself (name and your ASU email)
  2. a picture of you
  3. at least two links: one to your resume and one to the Del E. Webb School of Construction.

The resume should have a professional look and obey the rules discussed in class.
The homework will be published on www.public.asu.edu.

Submission: After completion you have to send an email to con251@asu.edu containing the URL.

The email should follow the etiquette rules of email communication.
Your message should have the subject:

CON 251 9:15 URL
or CON 251 10:40 URL
or CON251 3:15 URL
as appropriate

Note that subject will actually contain the letters URL and not your specific web address. So for instance

Subject: CON251 9:15 www.public.asu.edu/~johndoe

will be wrong.

You should use your own ASU email address as sender address. If your regular email is different form ASU make sure your ASU email is forwarded to that address. 
You have to sign the message using your name and ASU email.

 Grading: The homework worth 100 points.

5 points will be deducted for failing to comply with each of the requirements above.
20 points will be deducted if the resume does not have a professional look.
Further deductions (5 points each) will be made for failing to comply with the following requests:

  1. Images have defined an alternate text
  2. Images have the dimensions defined in HTML
  3. Size of image files is optimized (minimum size and good quality)
  4. Enumerative paragraphs are aligned using either the LIST (<LI>) command or the TABLE command
  5. First screen of each page (regular SVGA 600x800 screen) conveys pertinent information
