Sunday January 17, 2010.

Welcome to CSE 432/598 Operating System Internals, Linux fall 2008.
The web site is not quite complete. Course outline reading material  has to be slightly modified for this fall. Only exam dates are definite.
phpBB interactive news forum still needs to be set up for this fall's class.
Programming project data for projects 1 and 2 needs to be double checked for possible updates, date removals (correct ones are on the main web page and course outline) and ability to run Programs 1 and 2 on Linux 2.6 (could depend on compiler.) Class list for grades has not been entered. Recent old cse432 and cse591 exams need to be posted.
Write-ups for programming projects 3, 4 and 5 need to be updated and information for programming project 6 has to be added.

For this and next week's classes - run off and bring to class the following reformatted Linux source code listings - so you can write notes on them and follow the lecture more easily:

Click on linux sources in the left panel on the home page. We will be covering the source code listings for printk_algs, printk_edited, printk_data_strs and printk_log_prtr in the  printk folder and wait_event_large. wait_queue_large, wake_up_large, wq_algs, and wq_data_strs in the  wait_event folder and the one called gen_list_data_strs.doc in the generic_lists folder.

Bring your texts to class. I may use the document camera on some of the figures or code snippets to explain some things.
