Hessam S. Sarjoughian
I have been at Arizona State University (ASU) since August 2001 as assistant professor of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Barrett Honors College Disciplinary Faculty. Prior to joining ASU, I was on the research faculty in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Arizona (UA). In summer of 1998, I spent one month as a visiting scientist at GMD, Systems Analysis and Simulation group in Berlin, Germany. My non-academic experience has been with the Advanced Products/Systems Analysis group of Allied-Signal Aerospace Company and with IBM. The main areas of my research are in Modeling and Simulation Methodologies, Simulation/Software Model Composability, Distributed Co-Design, Agent-Based Simulation, and Software Architecture. Since 2000, my research has been supported by NSF, Intel, Northrup Grumman (JITC/DISA), Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and US Air Force.
Beginning in the summer of 1997, Bernard Zeigler and I, with contributions from others at different stages, began the establishment and founding of the Arizona Center for Integrative Modeling & Simulation (ACIMS) which was approved by the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) in January 2001. In collaboration with faculty and administrators, I led the establishment of an Online Masters of Engineering in Modeling & Simulation (MEng M&S) in the Fulton School of Engineering at ASU in spring 2004. Some of my current and past related activities since 2002 have been with the Society for Modeling and Simulation International (SCS), Consortium for Embedded and Inter-Networking Technologies (CEINT), and the Modeling & Simulation Professional Certification Commission (M&SPCC).
