Statement of Service Philosophy

As an academic, my service activities tend to have a scholarly bent.  Because of my upbringing, I enjoy collaborating with others to make them successful.  My most valued service activities are mentoring students and junior faculty members by co-working, co-publishing, and co-proposal writing.  Recently, I also find professional service activities with more personal visibility rewarding to me.  In particular, organizing national meetings, serving on editorial boards, and being a visiting scholar are providing me with roles for leadership in creating service opportunities for others.
