Research Areas

The general research topic is control of digital communication in networks. Control has two major directions. One is directed at the user or subscriber, to provide services like call processing which range from simple POTS (plain old telephone service) to multimedia conferencing and include the field of intelligent networking. The other direction is concerned with network management, i.e. managing the resources of networks with local, wide area or global range. The networks are assumed to use digital tec hnology and thus provide integrated or multimedia communication facilities. The control of these networks relies on advanced computer science concepts. Some specialized research investigations are sketched in the following.
