EEE 598 – Network Performance Evaluation

Prerequisite: EEE 554, EEE 459

Textbook: Current Journal articles

Reference: D. Bertsekas & R. Gallager, Data Networks, 2nd ed. A. S. Tanenbaum, Computer Networks, 3rd ed.

The course will first review the OSI model and the function of each layer in the stack. The focus of this course will be on the performance of integrated services networks. Specifically, the course will cover various traffic and network models and investigate the effects of traffic control and congestion on the network performance. Issues in traffic control: policing/regulation, scheduling/resource management, flow control, admission control. These topics will be studied for packet switched wired and wireless networks.
